Evergreen Capital is a group of investors looking to acquire, hold and grow great businesses in British Columbia over the next 25 years.

We are hands-on, long-term investors affording BC-based business owners opportunities for critical change, growth, transition and returns in both the short- and long-term. We partner with sellers to find succession solutions that are tailored to their unique situation, and offer transition plans to acquire up to 100% of the business, all while having some fun in the process.

Who we are

Matt founded Evergreen Capital in 2021 with several like-minded investors. Matt is a proud husband and father of two young girls. In his free time you will find Matt enjoying the outdoors: hiking, trail running, biking, or skiing. Matt is very involved with the management, oversight and strategic planning of Evergreen’s portfolio companies. He is also a Board Member of ACG BC.

Prior to Evergreen Capital, Matt was the Director of Corporate Development and a member of the executive team at the Jim Pattison Group. He was responsible for acquisitions, strategic partnerships, strategic planning and management oversight for certain operating divisions. Matt led over 15 acquisitions and supported an additional 30 deals in his time there.

Prior to his role at the Jim Pattison Group, Matt worked at Deloitte Corporate Finance as an associate assisting founders with strategic options and the sale of their business. Matt started his professional career in Deloitte’s Audit and Assurance practice in 2010. He obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 2013. Before his finance career, Matt obtained other experience in various industries such as real estate sales, oil field services, construction, food & beverage, and customer service.

Our 60-day process

  • Find a structure that works.

    We listen to and understand the goals of the seller. We are flexible, collaborative and creative in tailoring a solution.

  • Prepare an offer.

    We prepare an offer that is understandable with terms written in plain english. We always try to find solutions that are good for the seller and their team but also fair for the buyer.

  • Due diligence.

    We perform the necessary analysis that won't waste your time or money.

  • Close the deal.

    Once all terms are agreed on, we aim to have the deal closed by the 60 day mark.
